Deep vertical integrity with compounding flight heritage. Every subsystem, every line of flight code, every AIT process developed and built in unison under one roof to the requirements of comprehensive satellite constellation production & operations.

Our Infrastructure

20,000sqft Satellite Factory
Tucked in a quiet village near Oxford, OrbAstro operates a 20,000sqft satellite factory built for rapid constellation deployment. Components enter through one door; flight-ready, constellation-grade satellites exit through another.
Our inspection, assembly, integration, and test processes are streamlined for parallel production across nanosatellite and ESPA-class platforms, allowing multiple configurations and customer constellations to move through the facility simultaneously.
Depending on configuration mix and satellite class, the factory is designed for a throughput capacity of approximately 500 satellites per year.

S-band & Ka-band Ground Station Network
OrbAstro operates through a geographically distributed ground segment spanning the UK, Canada, Iceland, India, Australia, and South Korea. This provides regular access opportunities across multiple longitudes and reduces dependence on any single site or provider.
Across this network, a typical OrbAstro satellite achieves around 280 passes per week, equating to roughly 2,000 minutes of access time. Average pass duration is approximately 8 minutes, giving customers a high-cadence operational rhythm for telemetry, commanding, and data return.
Contact gaps are tightly bounded across the baseline network with 62% of inter-pass gaps under 30 minutes, 73% under 60 minutes, and no gaps beyond 90 minutes. That matters operationally because it supports more responsive tasking, faster recovery from anomalies, and more predictable data latency.
OrbAstro’s RF chain supports high-rate downlink through S-band and Ka-band infrastructure, with throughput scalable up to 4Gbps depending on mission configuration. The point is not headline bandwidth on paper, but a ground architecture designed to make high-throughput missions operationally usable.
The network is not closed or brittle. OrbAstro satellites are also compatible with established third-party ground networks, including providers such as AWS, KSAT, and Leaf Space, giving customers flexibility in architecture, resilience, and regional access strategy.
For customers who require greater control, OrbAstro can provide dedicated S-band & Ka-band hybrid phased-array ground terminals. This supports independent ground infrastructure where mission assurance, data sovereignty, or access prioritisation make that commercially or operationally sensible.

petaFLOPS-scale Data Centre
We operate a 97 petaFLOP processing cluster built to support real-time satellite health monitoring, RF performance analysis, mission data processing, and constellation-scale operational decision support.
The cluster ingests telemetry, ground-station activity, RF link performance, mission operations data, and long-term subsystem trends across the satellites we manage. It provides the compute backbone for high-volume data analysis, operational dashboards, automated reporting, and fleet-scale performance monitoring.
This data-centre infrastructure supports our Mission Control System and Abel AI engine, giving our operators the processing capacity required to manage satellites at constellation scale and turn live mission data into actionable insight for customers, operators, and automated mission-control workflows.

End-to-End Mission Operations Framework
Our Mission Operations Framework takes each satellite from pre-launch rehearsal through commissioning, routine operations, anomaly response, customer reporting, and end-of-life disposal.
Before launch, we use Flat-Sat testing, payload interface checks, mission-control familiarisation, and day-in-the-life rehearsals to validate command flows, data paths, operational assumptions, and customer processes.
Once in orbit, we lead commissioning, platform health checks, operational handover, routine tasking, command preparation, telemetry monitoring, data downlink coordination, and customer reporting through the Mission Control System.
Throughout the mission, we manage safe-mode response, anomaly triage, software updates, ground-station coordination, collision avoidance, retirement planning, and decommissioning execution, giving customers a complete operational service across the full satellite lifecycle.
